Don’t Get Scammed By Fraudulent Health Insurance Companies

We live in a crazy world. Scammers. Frauds. Identify theft. Evil folks waiting to pounce on your vulnerability. There are ways to protect yourself.

Health care in our country has been a major discussion point for decades. Quality care. Access to care. Insurance for health care.

The health care insurance industry is not without its pitfalls. There are evil folks out there waiting to pressure you into purchasing policies that do not protect you. Amidst all their promises and guarantees, you find yourself being misinformed, mislead and scammed. And you’ve accumulated large expenses before you realize you’ve been scammed.

Here are some of the questions experts suggest you ask when vetting health insurance companies:

  • Are pre-existing conditions covered?

  • What will my co-pay and premiums be?

  • What is NOT covered?

  • Is my doctor in-network for this plan?

  • Is this major medical insurance, a medical discount plan, or something else? Is it a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)? Or a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)?

  • What will my maximum out of pocket expense?

  • Will there be any penalties for canceling the policy before the contract expiration date?

  • How long has the company been in business.

You can also call your state Department of Insurance and see if there are any complaints against the company.

Ask your doctors if they take this insurance and are satisfied with it?
